Overview: SAR Unit, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. Our search and rescue unit has provided assistance to law enforcement in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas for the past 19 years. We utilize skilled handlers and trained canines to locate missing persons and recover human remains.

Our services are provided to federal, state, county and city law agencies free of charge. Our Unit also educates schools, churches, civic groups, law enforcement, and fire and rescue teams by giving lectures, presentations, seminars and demonstrations.

SAR Unit, Inc. has been training and providing a limited number of service dogs to people with disabilities since 1993.  As a companion program to our dog work, we provide hearing alert, seizure alert, wheelchair assist, PTSD support, diabetic alert and therapy dogs to meet the specific needs of individuals with disabilities. Each dog is selected and trained to match with each recipient.

The growth and continuation of the SAR Unit is dependent on the support of community businesses, civic organizations and individuals.

Area Served: Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas

Dogs and Types: Bloodhounds and Labrador Retrievers. Puppies are carefully screened and selected for training to become a SAR Unit canine. Training starts as early as birth and continues for the life of the dog.
